ANC Awards Night & Graduation Ceremony 2014

A night that recognizes the hard work and dedication of the students who have strived to achieve excellence in education at the ANC Education was held recently at the Hilton Colombo amidst a distinguished gathering.

The occasion was graced by Dr Jagath Alwis, Chairman of ANC, Dr. Punarjeeva Karunanayake, CEO/ Executive Director of ANC, Dr. Nalaka Godahewa, Chairman of the Securities Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka, Ms. Dawn Suni, Cultural Affairs Officer at the US Embassy, Prof. Mac Powell, President John F Kennedy University, Prof. Helen Bartlett, Head of Monash, Malaysia, Ms. Mamiko Reeves, Dean of International Students, representatives of respective universities and ANC, students and parents. Nearly 300 students graduated, transferred and were High Achievers with 100 or more transferring to eminent universities situated in Australia, USA, UK, Canada and Malaysia to complete their degrees. Established in 2002 and headed by Dr Jagath Alwis, ANC Education - the largest education conglomerate in the country - has been in the forefront of tertiary education in Sri Lanka, providing quality education. As such, the wide spectrum of educational expertise at ANC Education includes pre-school, secondary school, undergraduate, postgraduate programmes, PATHE Study Medicine and Study Germany, where the institution has partnered with some of the most prominent universities in USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany and Malaysia in the hopes of furthering its motto of providing an ‘education without borders’ to Sri Lankan students. One of the main highlights of ANC Awards Night this year was the graduation of the first batch of the LLM programme done in collaboration with the University of West London, UK. Commending the achievements of the students. The Night also witnessed the presentation of High and Best Achievement Awards to students who reached exceptional levels at programmes conducted in conjunction with John F Kennedy University (JFKU), Northwood University, Missouri University of Science and Technology (MS&T), Monash College Diploma and Monash University Foundation Year. The Best Achievement Awards of each programme went to Amanda Chathrapani Kumari (JFKU), Dona Bhagya Dinithi (Northwood University), Bulathsinhalage Nilushka (MS&T), Mathindri Sheranga (MS&T), Shahan Chintaka (Monash College Diploma Programme) and Naduni Amantha (Monash University Foundation Year). Having more than a decade’s experience in the field of Private education, ANC has grown through the years and as such the institute has been able to cultivate a long lasting relationship with the US Embassy in Sri Lanka where they have been able to successfully place many Sri Lankan students in universities located in various states. The talents of the present student body was also showcased during the Awards ceremony providing a glimpse to the various clubs and societies present at ANC through a specially dedicated video clip. The night ended on a high note with the Graduation Ball which allowed the students to celebrate their accomplishments in style.
