Woman Entrepreneur of the Year 2017 Awards Ceremony Women’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce (WCIC)

15 October 2018 09:58 am Since its introduction in 1988, The Woman Entrepreneur Awards Ceremony of the Chamber, held biennially is a flagship event of WCIC’s calendar. This year, the Awards Ceremony was held under the patronage of Chief Guest,  Hon Ranil Wickremasinghe, Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka , Guests of  Honour, Hon Chandrani Bandara Minister of Women and Child Affairs of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, and Her Worship Rosy Senanayake – Mayor of Colombo  Special Guests for the event were,Professor Maithree Wickramasinghe, Hon Faiszer Musthapha,  Minister of Sports, Provincial Councils and Local Government Hon Thalatha Atukorale, Minister of Justice & Prison Reforms Hon Eran Wickremaratne  State Minister of Finance Hon Harsha de Silva State Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs. The Welcome Address was made by Mrs Chathuri Ranasinghe Chairperson, Women’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce. In her address she said; “Unstoppable - the Future Belongs to Her”  Under the glorious felicitous theme the Women’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce,  recognized  the Super Women,  “The Woman Entrepreneurs”  of  motherland – Sri Lanka. The WCIC is unique in being the first Women only Trade Chamber to be established in Sri Lanka in the year 1985, a non profit organization of women in business and professions,  catering solely to the needs of women entrepreneurs and professionals. The Chamber, recognizes the strong managerial abilities of women – how emotionally and psychologically strong, capable and innovative women prove to be in managing their day to day family lives and finances, multi-tasking as wives, mothers, daughters, sisters, home-makers, care-givers to the elderly and the sick, and many with careers or holding jobs.
