So here at Lanka Woman, as avid fans of porridge we thought about providing you with a recipe of porridges which you can enjoy in hot and cold weather.
For hot weather – a bowl of porridge with cooling effect
Ingredients
Let’s make it
Soak sago for 30 minutes prior to cooking. Set this aside. Get a deep bottom pan and boil 400 milliliters of water. When the water is boiling add the soaked sago after draining the excess water – and stir till it looks clear. Then add the oats and stir it quickly since it will burn otherwise. While the oats are cooking add the jaggery and half the coconut milk. Now oats stir this and ensure the oats and sago are well cooked. Turn off the heat, and add the remaining coconut milk (this makes it extra creamy). If needed add more sugar and pinch of salt. Serve in small bowls, garnished with mangoes. A truly delicious treat to beat the heat.
