Teach your child to Economise

Maria tucked her ten year old daughter Parvati into bed and then switched off the light even though Parvati had told her that she prefers the light to be on. She kissed the little girl ‘Good Night’ and told her not to worry about the dark and to close her eyes.
Maria and her husband Ifaz had discussed the day before that they must try to cut down costs as they had to cope with the rising cost of living. “We must tell our two children to try and save money by cutting down on the electricity bill and not watch too much television” said Ifaz, adding, “We must both put our heads together and maybe ask the kids too if there are ways we can economise.” “I know. Clothes are expensive. I come from a large family and we used to wear clothes passed down from our elder brother and sister. We must train our kids to do the same. Besides, they don’t always have to wear fancy dresses and pants” said Maria.
