Ever have days when you are hanging around your house, doing nothing and you have perfect hair that looks like you have spent all day in a salon but the minute you decide to step out of the house, your hair decides to behave in the worst way possible? This is a common phenomenon most of us ladies are all too familiar with and if you are in a rush, this is especially frustrating. Having a bad hair day can ruin your mood and deteriorate your confidence. But don’t worry, we are here to help! If you follow these easy-peasy, simple hair hacks, you might never have to struggle with another bad hair day again. Sounds too good to be true? Well read on and try them out for yourself!
Never brush wet hair
It might be tempting to brush your hair while it is still wet, especially if you are pressed for time but believe me, it is a recipe for disaster. It is very damaging to brush wet hair as it can lead to breakage and frizz! Instead, you should comb it from the ends up with a wide toothed comb until
your tangles are gone. By keeping your hair healthy and frizz at bay, you’ll shorten the amount of styling time your hair needs!
Use a microfiber towel
Just as it is damaging to brush wet hair, it also damages your hair if you use a towel to “scrub” or “rub” your head. No matter what your mother has told you, it doesn’t help if you violently rub your hair with a thick towel. It is much easier on your hair if you use a microfiber towel and gently squeeze and hold your hair to sop up excess water. If not, a soft cotton tee-shirt
works just as well. This keeps your hair shiny, manageable, and damage-free!
Never curl the ends of your hair
Getting natural-looking, perfect curls may not be easy but this tip should help. This hair hack may sound contradictory to what you’ve learned in the past, but leaving an inch of hair straight at the end of your curls will give the illusion of longer hair! It also creates a more natural
looking curl or wave.
Don’t shampoo everyday
This is something that you should already know. Shampoo can strip your hair of its natural oils and dry out your hair, leaving it limp and dull. It can also give you a flaky scalp, frizz and stubborn locks. Wash your hair only twice or thrice a week using shampoo and always, use conditioner after a shampoo. Dry shampoo is an option you can try in between washes.
Coconut oil is your hair’s best friend
Did you know that the best remedy for your hair is easily found in your kitchen? Yes, your grandmother was right after all. If you haven’t tried a coconut oil hair mask yet, you need to get on the ball soon! Not only is coconut oil great to apply to your hair, but also eating it will help your hair, skin, and nails to be shiny and modelesque. Incorporate some into your diet daily for
dramatic results! This should not be too hard for us Sri Lankans.
Let your hair cool before touching it
One of the biggest mistakes we make when styling our hair, whether it’s a blowout, a flat iron job, or curling it, is to touch our hair before it cools! So keep your paws off your hair and always let it cool before styling or messing with it. This will allow the style to “set” and hold all day.
(With these tips you will see that you don’t need a miracle to have great-looking hair every single day!)
