How do you see yourself – before the world sets eyes on you each day? Do you look at yourself and say “ there is a beauty – a great woman, kind, compassionate and looking lovelier than yesterday “ or, “ oh dear – how awful!”
We women hold the beauty secrets in our minds, way more than in our many jars of cream and baskets of cosmetics. Really, how do you see yourself? Are you a constant nagger on how awful you look and how pretty Alice next door is? Or are you grateful for who you are and what you have been given? For me, beauty is firstly how I see myself – in the mirror and in my mind, thoughts and spirit. Staying that way takes a bit of effort and time. Here are a few tips gleaned from a bunch of women, who are so happy to be themselves and are grateful for it, its’ lovely to be around them.
Wake up early
Even on holidays. The sounds of nature and the soft falling of the rays of sun in the early hours of the day, is calming balm. Take advantage of this wonderful time where you can cultivate peace within you. Meditate or pray.
Have a good body wash every day
At least two, these days. Let dirt and grit get washed away under the shower. Cold water is always the best. Give yourself a vigorous drying up with a good absorbant towel and powder yourself.
Wash your hair at least thrice a week
Choose your shampoo carefully. Wash off all traces of shampoo – this should be basic for you – and condition well.
Cleanser-toner-moistureiser
Just like your breakfast, these are important too. Make a daily habit of cleansing moisturizing your skin every morning and night.Use a good eye cream and a hand cream.Massage your feet with baby oil and put them up on a cushion to relax in the night once your daily chores are done.
Drink Plain water
Have two glasses of lukewarm water as you wake up. This will cleanse your body and force toxins out of it.
Remove your day make up thoroughly
Skin is a sensitive area and we are covered with it ! Treat it gently and moisturise well.
Sun block
Use one, when you are in the sun. Ozone layer is supposed to be mending – but who knows what’s up in the air ..? So lets’ be careful and protect ourselves.
Sunglasses
Wear your sunglasses too – without squinting to look at where you are going, in mid day sun.
Go to bed early
Adequate amounts of sleep in a well ventilated room.
Light Physical Exercise
For starters and then graduate to something strenuous if your doctor approves. Brisk walking - they say, is one of the best moves you can do.
Use a good body cream
All over your body soon after towel drying yourself. Make it a nightly routine.
Do a pedicure
Once in six weeks – you will feel great about yourself.
Visit the Gym
If you are a Gymaoholic stay with a routine. You’ll enjoy the work out and the many friendships you will form.
Prayer and meditation
Take time off to build your inner strength.
Be grateful
You have much that others can only dream about. At the end of the day, before you fall asleep close your eyes and visualize the green hills or the sea. Hear the gentle lap of water touching the banks or a leafy green tree swaying in the wind. Relax, unwind and let go. Last but not the least – mind your own business, unless you can be of help to someone and were asked to do so, never get entangled in others’ hair. You might end up with lice!
Stay beautiful – at any age!
