Caring for your self is a duty and a responsibility to yourself. It is an integral part of your personality that reflects your inner beauty. Personal care begins with good health and hygiene. Maintain a simple, manageable, regular personal care system that helps you look good at all times and most importantly, keep you healthy.
Myth & Truth
Your Body
Myth - It is not good to wash your body when you have a cold.
Truth - Always wash your body. Use warm water for comfort not as a compulsion.
Myth - Drinking too much water will create a big stomach.
Truth - Excess water will not retain in the stomach, but flush away all the toxins in the body. Drink 10 glasses of water a day.
Myth - Eating breakfast will make me fat.
Truth - Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Eat a healthy breakfast before 7.30 am. Reduce the quantity of lunch & dinner.
Your Skin
Myth - Cleansing the face and neck need not be done daily. Only once or twice a week will be sufficient.
Truth - Cleansing is as important as brushing your teeth twice a day, when you begin the day and at the end of the day before going to bed. Use a face wash or a suitable cleansing cream to remove the collection of dirt, grime, make up, sweat and dead skin on your skin.
Myth - I don’t need moisturizers as I have oily skin
Truth - All skins need moisturizer lotions or creams to replenish the moisture lost during the day and to protect the skin from the hazards of the environment. Oily skin needs moisturizers that are water based emulsions while dry skin moisturizers are made of oil based emulsions. Select the correct product to suit your skin type and apply every time you wash your face and neck.
Your Hair
Myth - If I apply oil my hair will grow longer and become black.
Truth - Oil of any make, will not give ample hair growth but will certainly help to cool and moisturize the scalp. When massaging with oil, the dry scales of the epidermis will loosen and blood circulation will improve to help cell regeneration. Oil will shine on the hair and reflect a darker shade, but will not darken the natural hair colour.
Myth - hair loss can be arrested with a variety of vitamins and medicines.
Truth - Hair is a part of the body and will reflect your inner health. A person will lose 60 to 100 stands of hair a day, giving way to the new hair that grows. Any number more than that means you are lacking in balanced, meals and rest and need to correct this immediately without waiting for another time. (e.g. After a delivery, young mothers, study stress etc). Balanced meals are far better than any vitamins
Myth - Washing the hair daily with shampoo & conditioner is not good for the hair.
Truth - Always use a suitable shampoo and conditioner to wash the hair. It is true that unnecessary washing will dry the scalp. But removing dirt and grime should be done as and when necessary. While the shampoo will cleanse the scalp and hair, conditioner will smoothen the outer layers of the hair (Cuticle) and give shine and protection to the hair shaft.
Nail Care
Myth - Nails and feet are not as important as the face.
Truth - Hands, feet and nails create impressions, sometimes faster than the face would. Many times we create poor impressions when seeing the hands or feet before seeing the face. Give equal importance to maintaining your feet, ands and nails.
