Ramzi Rahman – whose name is synonymous with timeless talent, creativity and beauty - needs no introduction. The iconic hairstylists, makeup artists and renowned bridal dresser who has been wowing everyone for decades is now coming out with some of his best work in his latest extravaganza ‘Hair Couture – A legend Through Time.’
The show, which celebrates Ramzi’s 40 year long journey in the hair and beauty industry, will be held on the 29th of September at The Grand Ballroom in the Galadari Hotel from 7.30 pm onwards The unique and innovative show centers around the theme ‘the past, the present and the future.’ “Through this show I want to express the ride I have taken over the past four decades in the beauty and hair industry and display how I have evolved with the styles over the years,” Ramzi told Lanka Woman. An artists with a born-talent, Ramzi who has been dabbing with hair, beauty and fashion since he was in his early teens, first studied under the guidance of Ms. Logi Mariathasan and then later went to London to cultivate his talents. Upon his return he opened up his own salon, patroned by some of the most prominent personalities in the country. Since then he has embarked on a journey which has only become more and more successful as time went on and will be sure to shine even brighter in the future. His work over four decades will be manifested in ‘Hair Couture.’ The show holds a variety of exceptionally creative and exclusive styles of the legendary hair and beauty stylist. Speaking further about the show Ramzi gave us a glimpse in to the kind of work he will be showcasing at the upcoming show which is in three parts. “In the ‘Past’ segment I want to showcase some of the best styles from the good ol’ days and revive old styles. In the ‘Present’ section I will show what modern-day hair styles are like. There will be kids and teenagers in this section because the present belongs to the younger generation. The ‘Future’ segment will be fun and whimsical as I have let my imagination run wild about what the future holds. These styles are not realistic of course and there is a very futuristic look to them. There will also be a ‘Fantasy’ segment which will feature body paint and will be very artistic,” he added. Apart from exhibiting his work, the main aim of Ramzi’s show is to give the upcoming, new artists a helping hand. “I want the budding new stylists to be there and see what it was like, I want them to witness a show like this so they can draw inspiration and encouragement from it,” he said. All proceeds from the show will be given to the Menhandy School for the Exceptional Child and tickets are available at Ramzi Salons at Borella and Galadari, Spa Ceylon at Crescat Boulevard and WHITE by Spa Ceylon at Ward Place.
