Shaakya, you are a very successful young female entrepreneur in Sri Lanka, tell us about your early years as a school girl, your family and background and how you came to be a designer, who prompted or inspired you? I was a multi talented girl from the beginning, dancing ,music, drama, science, sports and leadership. And i have lot of friends. I was always a risk taker.and love trying new things and change. Family was my first school.father mother and 3 siblings and a puppy. Father was the first great wall of my success. He is the one who showed me the value of entrepreneurship. He’s the hero of my life. As a little girl, I was always inspired by pretty things. I wanted to look pretty, I wanted to have pretty things. I know it sounds superficial to some and almost a cliché. But isn't that something every girl or may be even boys secretly want? As I grew up, this passion grew into something that transcendended the personal space and I wanted to make the world pretty. There's nothing I want to see more than the people in nice attire, living happy lives. Fashion is all about happiness, about making people happy, by making them pretty and making them feel good about themselves Did you have a role model or did you always want to do something on your own and be your own boss? My father and my fiance are the role models in my life. And they both are the living and closest examples of success.Of cause I always wanted to do some thing on my own.and to be my own boss "girl boss". Can you tell Lanka Woman about your three businesses, House of Shaakya, BODYLICIOUS SKIN CARE and April Spencer How do you manage all three companies and how successful are they? All these 3 brands are  under my company Shaakya karunasena Consolidated Pvt Ltd. House of Shaakya is a local casual and office wear line for Sri Lankan women for their daily style. April Spencer is feminine and is a timeless array of women’s attire. Primarily those are a blend of resort and occasion wear. APRIL SPENCER represents the contemporary female dreamer to luxury, outgoing la belle mademoiselle. Constant inspiration drawn from poetry, art, traveling to colorful cities and nature helps APRIL in creating a bespoke beauty, able to free the dreaming spirit of every woman.
