Could you introduce yourself to our readers?

I’m Zahara Abdeen (née Zubair), born and raised in Colombo as the youngest of four children. My father is a respected businessman, and my mother is a housewife. I had the privilege of studying at St. Bridget’s Convent, Colombo 07, where I served as a Prefect during my collegiate years, and I continue to be an active member of the PPA. In 1997, I married my husband, Izadeen, and together we are blessed with four children: Amara, Jamal, Aneeq, and Jemima.  My academic journey led me to complete a diploma in Diplomacy and World Affairs at BIDTI in Colombo, followed by a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Gloucestershire, UK. Currently, I serve as the CEO of Zest Metropole Hotel, a luxury hotel located in Fort, and I also manage another boutique hotel, Tropic Inn, in Mount Lavinia. My passion for jewellery has also brought me into the family business, where I support my husband at Abdeen Jewellers. Additionally, I am a member of the working committee for Facets 2025. Beyond my professional roles, I am deeply involved in social work, with a focus on empowering young people and uplifting communities.
