She was once a quiet little girl enthralled by colour and crafts, allowing her innate creativity to be her mode of expression. Fast forward to a few years ahead and she’s blossomed into an award winning Entrepreneur!Dilushi’s passion for design since her childhood years inspired her to pursue a career as an Architect and thereafter specialize in Interior Design. After working for many reputed companies, she made a choice to venture out on her own. From humble beginnings, Ms. Mendis has now proven her worth in the industry by completing a series of successful and unique projects for noteworthy clients! Just last month, she bagged a coveted award for her entrepreneurial acumen and astute eye for design. Flip through to read all about her colourful and inspiring journey!

Without further ado let’s dive into the conversation and start right at the very beginning. What was your childhood like?

My childhood was spent in the idyllic coastal city of Galle, waking up to the sound of the waves lapping against the shoreline while the sky fills up with colour at every sunrise and sunset. While being quite the silent character during my formative years, I had learnt to express myself through art – a skill that would later unleash my innate creative potential and equip me to embark on a journey of purpose.As a student, I remember participating in many competitions and eagerly submitting my creations to the newspapers. Unlike today’s youth, the paths and avenues for young hopefuls like me were very limited. However, I feel like I did a good job in harnessing the opportunities that arose along the way.
