The month of December brings along Christmas, the most anticipated holiday of the year. This festive season is not only restricted to those who believe in the faith but enjoyed by many from all other religions as well. Regardless of how you celebrate this sacred holiday, be it attending a string of sermons at church from the 1st of the month or having fellowship with close family and friends over a home cooked meal on the day of Christmas, it is always good to plan ahead. Prior preparation will give you ample time to focus on the reason for the season instead of drowning in a pile of unrealistic goals that will wear you out in the end. Here are a few tips on how to get ready for Christmas without breaking a sweat!
Work out a budget
Sketching out a small budget is the very first step to making wise choices during the season. It’s important to prioritize costing for food, decorations, gifts, family outings and whatever else that matters most to you. This way you can get a better idea of how to manage your finances without splurging unnecessarily on items that aren’t essential.
Jot down important dates on your calendar
As we have strolled in to the month of November, there’s only a couple of weeks left for Christmas! Therefore it’s important to jot down specific dates in your calendar and diary with everything from shopping for Christmas cake ingredients to baking it, important school events, church services, family gatherings and other activities that usually clog up the weeks leading up to the 25th.
Decide who hosts Christmas lunch or dinner
If it’s tradition in your extended family to host an annual Christmas lunch or dinner, make a collective decision on who gets to host it this year. If your family gets the opportunity, don’t procrastinate and wait till the last minute to figure things out. Come up with a guest list and include all the family members and close friends you’d want to invite just so you could plan out arrangements for food, beverages and seating. Thereafter pen a rough list of the menu and cross off options that might
be unnecessarily time consuming. Fix a date to go shopping for all the ingredients and also organize arrangements for décor if needed.
