The Queen’s Garden Parties 

8 July 2019 10:36 am Words : Indika Madapatha Sellahewa Thenu Herath Final Year Undergraduate Student at the University of Melbourne studying BA in Politics and International Studies, received a surprise invitation to attend The Queen’s Garden Party this year.

Here’s how the invitation went:

“The Lord Chamberlain is commanded by Her Majesty to invite you to a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday 21st May, 2019”  “So went the gold lettered invite I received from the Australian High Commission in London. I was delighted to be selected as an Australian representative at one of this year’s Royal Garden Parties. Being born in New Zealand, growing up in Australia and having Sri Lankan heritage, I feel deeply connected to the Commonwealth and, of course, the idea of visiting the palace was one I could not refuse.
