Prof. Kshanika Hirimburegama A life dedicated to Science, and balancing work and family

Prof. Kshanika Hirimburegama is a well known public personality in Sri Lanka. She has contributed immensely to agricultural research as a senior scientist, to the higher education system as the 17th Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo from 2008 to 2013, and the first lady Chairperson of the University Grants Commissions of Sri Lanka (UGC) from 2013 to 2015. Her myriad accomplishments and accolades run into pages, yet in person Prof. Hirimburegama is a warm and unassuming person. So it takes a little while at first to see beyond the soft-spoken and maternal demeanor, the quiet determination and inner passion that fuels her drive to serve society, working assiduously in her chosen profession.
