Indonesian expatriates in Sri Lanka and Sri Lankan friends of Indonesia gathered in the Indonesian Embassy-Colombo to commemorate the 69th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence Day
On the 17th August, the Indonesian expatriates in Sri Lanka and Sri Lankan friends of Indonesia gathered at the Indonesian
Embassy, Colombo to commemorate the 69th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence Day. The commemoration event focused on the Flag Hoisting ceremony. A tradition observed by Indonesians all over the World. The ceremony was led by the Indonesian Ambassador, H E Harinawan Suyitno. In his remarks, Ambassador Suyitno called upon Indonesians to continue to respect the results of the Presidential election and be at peace, always focusing on the national interest and the future of the Indonesian people. Ambassador Suyitno also emphasized the journey of the Indonesian nation as characterized by political stability, economic growth and national unity, and maintain unity for prosperity. The International situation is also conducive towards interest of Indonesia. The ceremony closed with a prayer dedicated to the Independence heroes as well as the prevailing peace and welfare of Indonesia. The Ceremony was followed by a fellowship gathering with Nasi Tumpeng, a traditional Indonesian rice feast, which took up the attention of the Indonesian expatriates who long for a traditional dish from home.
