Join the ‘Walk and Run’ for World Alzheimer’s Month and help prevent dementia. Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia will become increasingly prevalent as Sri Lanka’s aging population grows. In recognition of World Alzheimer’s Month, the Lanka Alzheimer’s Foundation (LAF) will organise impactful events to raise awareness and support those affected.Colombo’s iconic Lotus Tower will be illuminated in red to draw public attention to Alzheimer's disease, a specific type of dementia marked by progressive memory loss and cognitive decline. LAF will promote both physical and mental exercise, crucial for delaying or preventing dementia, through events like the ‘Run to Remember’ and the ‘Memory Walk 2024’.

LAF’s vital services will continue to raise awareness, provide education on risk reduction, and offer memory screening, assessment, and support for caregivers. Volunteers and generous donations will power these initiatives. Sponsors, including ADZ Insurance Brokers, Lotus Tower, and Cinnamon Grand Colombo, will contribute to making these events possible. The College of Community Physicians Sri Lanka will join LAF in its efforts, emphasising the importance of addressing dementia as a major public health concern. Unite with LAF to make a meaningful impact.
