Some Place Some Time’, a fascinating exhibition of paintings by Iranganie Wickramasinghe was recently held at the Barefoot Gallery. It was attended by the Secretary to the President Mr. Saman Ekanayake, the Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ms. Aruni Wijewardane and several diplomats in addition to art enthusiasts. Aged 84, oil and acrylic artist Iranganie Wickramasinghe has mastered landscape painting by portraying the marvels of nature through strokes of vivid hues and intricate details. The works in the collection followed a semi-abstract form, blending colours, lines and textures in peaceful harmony. Wickramasinghe has won the State Art and Sculpture Award for landscape paintings in the year 2022. Lanka Woman magazine wishes her more strength and courage to continue producing enthralling works of art.
