Organic. It’s a term that has become increasingly popular in recent years, but what does it truly mean? As we celebrate Organic Month, it’s the perfect time to delve into the essence of organic, exploring its significance in food, farming, and lifestyle.

At its core, organic refers to the way agricultural products are grown and processed. Organic farming is characterised by practices that foster environmental sustainability, promote animal welfare, and avoid the use of synthetic chemicals. Organic food is produced without the use of artificial fertilisers, pesticides, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Instead, organic farming relies on natural processes, biodiversity, and cycles adapted to local conditions. Organic farming is rooted in a few key principles: health, ecology, fairness, and care. These principles guide the practices that define organic agriculture.
