Can you share a bit about your early life in Colombo and what brought you to Adelaide at 18?

I was raised in Colombo until I was 18 years old, and I’ve been living in Australia for the past 12 years. I attended Musaeus College and spent a lot of time traveling around with my extended family. Despite the conflict in Sri Lanka happening in the background, I had an excellent childhood. Our family adults did such a great job creating enjoyable experiences for us that we never felt like we were going through a rough patch. We went on many trips and engaged in a lot of family activities. I moved to Australia for my higher studies, where my older sister was already living.

What inspired you to pursue cooking as a career?

Cooking wasn’t always my career; it’s a path I chose to transform my life. My background is in financial services, and I studied psychology and data analysis. I was involved in analyzing data related to financial crime. When the opportunity to switch careers presented itself, I felt it was the right time for a change. And here I am now.
