This prestigious award, given by the Office Management Group in the UK, marks a significant achievement for Sri Lanka and the Asia Pacific region. As the Chairperson of the Academy for Administrative Professionals, and Executive Secretary at SDB Bank, Dr. Sunethra Nugawela’s accomplishments continue to inspire.

Congratulations on receiving the International Office Manager (UK) Award 2024! How does it feel to be recognized with such a prestigious award, especially as the only recipient from the entire Asia Pacific region?

Recognition proves that we matter and have a purpose that influences others. It is the acknowledgment of someone’s worth or value and the appreciation of contributions. It proves that we are doing something right and significant that we are noticed. As the winner, and one and only from the region of this prestigious global award held in in England, I am motivated more and more to the profession and to the people.

Can you share more about the selection process for this award? What criteria did the judges consider, and what aspects of your work do you believe contributed to your win?

Judges Sarah James and Joshua Cort led the jury, evaluating entrants on their passion, achievements, projects, and nominations, then selecting the winner in collaboration. The judges’ feedback highlights noting my achievements, celebrations, CSR initiatives, commencing the academy, accomplishments and the strong testimonials supporting my role as an office manager.
