Shanti Fernando, Heart of the Heart to Heart Trust Fund

She is the Executive Coordinator of the Heart to Heart Trust Fund, which saves lives of hundreds of financially deprived heart patients in Sri Lanka. It is not surprising that Shanti Fernando is regarded as the Heart of the H2H Trust Fund, considering the yeomen service and the responsible task she upholds in identifying the financial capacities of the heart patients and giving them hope for life. Shanti Fernando uses her decades long experience holding many government projects locally and internationally as well as the knowledge she has gained and accumulated by being involved in a large number of social services.

Ms. Fernando its a pleasure for Lanka Woman to feature a lady of your tenure with many years of working with people and governments here in Sri Lanka and overseas. Could you please tell our readers about yourself ?

I have been for the past thirty-five years continuously involved in social work. It is against this background that I first met Dr. Rajitha De Silva, somewhere towards the end of 2017 to be exact, who apparently knowing my background requested me to find someone who would volunteer to administer the Heart To Heart Trust Fund, which was his brainchild. I thought a little and as the work seemed to be to my liking, I offered my own voluntary service to run the Trust Fund. Dr. Rajitha seemed surprised and happy at my response and lost no time to arrange a meeting with the well-known Dr. Ruvan Ekanayaka who was the Co-founder of the Trust Fund with Dr. Rajitha De Silva.
