Congratulations on winning the ‘Print Media Youth Journalist of the Year’ Award! Can you share your initial thoughts and feelings when you found out you had won this prestigious honor?
Thank you. I felt quite humbled when I was informed about winning the award.
What inspired you to pursue a career in journalism, and how did you get started in the field?
It was by accident that I became a journalist. At the time I was pursuing a degree in psychology and my goal was to pursue a career as a DNA analyst. But fate was such that my father suggested that I apply for a vacancy advertised in the Daily Mirror. The advertisement was looking out for a freelance writer and after applying I was called for an interview. Subsequently I was recruited and nine years later, I’m still happy with my first job which has now become a passion.
