Teacher’s Day commemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the 1996 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation Concerning the Status of Teachers. It sets the benchmarks regarding the rights and responsibilities of teachers, standards for their initial preparation and further education, recruitment, employment, teaching and learning conditions.

A teacher plays a vital role in the lives of the students in the classroom. Being a teacher provides one with the unique opportunity of making a transformation and a lasting impact on the lives of his/her students. As the world is facing a drastic decline in the numbers of teachers, 2023 Teacher’s Day celebrations are aimed at concentrating on reversing the global teacher shortage. A teacher is not only a person who imparts knowledge to the children. They not only teach subject matter, but also serve many other roles.
