Chamari Athapaththu The Sports Talent Loaded with Determination

The capacity to set ambitious goals and work tirelessly to accomplish them is a fantastic quality that every woman should have. Aside from this,a happy and prosperous life may be attained by just doing what makes you happy. Chamari Athapaththu has shown the world what women are capable of through her sheer determination and unmatched talent. Being the captain of the Sri Lankan Women’s Cricket Team, she is the first ever Sri Lankan female cricketer to top the ICC ODI rankings. Let’s get to know more about her and her journey.

Could you give us an introduction of yourself? 

I am Athapaththu Mudiyanselage Chamari Jayangani Kumari Athapaththu, and I was born and nurtured in Gokarella. I am a left-handed batswoman who can play all positions in the batting order. I am now serving as captain of the women’s Twenty20 International team that Sri Lanka sends to compete in international competition. My home country is Sri Lanka, and the sport I play is cricket. I was honored to get the title of Women’s Cricketer of the Year for the 2016–17 season at the annual awards event that was conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket in November 2017. The ceremony honored the best players from the previous year. I am the first female cricketer ever to represent Sri Lanka in a franchise league, and I play the game of cricket.
