Exploring Goa The pearl of the orient

Goa is one of the best tourist destinations in India. While my husband was at a training in New Delhi, we got this amazing opportunity to explore Goa. It is a state on the south western coast of India, situated in the konkan region. The flight from New Delhi took approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes. The weather in Goa is bright and sunny, reminding us so much about our beautiful island, Sri Lanka.  
It took us around 1 hour to reach Planet Hollywood Beach resort which is located on the Uttorda beach of south Goa. The hotel is exceptional with a large pool and vast stretch of private beach. We spent a relaxed and a wonderful evening walking in the beach and enjoyed a dip in the calm waters. Again the beach reminded me so much about our beaches. Goa is visited by many international and local tourists very year. Especially because of its white sandy beaches, places of worship, world heritage listed beautiful architecture (especially in old Goa) and of course for its active night life. Goa is also famous for its rich flora and fauna, as it is quite close to Western Ghats rainforests. 
The next day, we got up early for the tour of Old Goa. A luxury tour bus was arranged for us by the organization along with a tour guide. Vasco De Gama is a famous city in South Goa which is a major tourist attraction. The historic city still exhibits the cultural influence of the Portuguese. The merchants of Portuguese voyaged to the Indian subcontinent in early 
16th century and conquered it. Goa became an overseas territory of the Portuguese. It was under Portuguese empire for around 450 years. There are monuments and churches that are around 400 years old and it is well known for the finely constructed churches and the rich culture.
